Electricity in Malaysia is generated, transmitted and distributed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the sole electricity utility company in Malaysia. Electricity consumption in Malaysia was 107.4 TWh in 2012. Malaysia is a net exporter of electricity, exporting 2,727 GWh in 2012.

Malaysia's electricity generation mix in 2012 was hydro (39.3%), coal (33.8%), gas (23.7%), oil (2.2%), solar (0.8%) and other renewables (0.2%). TNB is the largest electricity generation company in Malaysia, with an installed capacity of 11,162 MW in 2012.

As of 2012, Malaysia has a total installed electricity capacity of 14,522 MW. 96% of the population has access to electricity.

Malaysia's electricity demand has been growing at an average rate of 6.5% per year over the last 10 years. Industrial and commercial sector consumption represents the largest share of electricity demand at 46.8%, followed by the residential sector at 37.4%.
