Business Companies in Malaysia

Business companies in Malaysia are required to be registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) unless they are exempt under the Companies Act 1965. The types of business entities which can be registered with SSM are:

1. Sole proprietorship
2. Partnership
3. Limited liability partnership
4. Private company
5. Public company

A sole proprietorship is the most common type of business entity in Malaysia and is owned by a single individual. A partnership is a business entity owned by two or more individuals who share the profits and losses of the business. A limited liability partnership is similar to a partnership but offers limited liability to the partners. A private company is a company that is not listed on the stock exchange and has certain restrictions on its share capital. A public company is a company that is listed on the stock exchange and does not have any restrictions on its share capital.
