Cane Companies in Malaysia

Cane companies in Malaysia are involved in the cultivation, processing and trading of sugar cane and related products. Malaysia is the world’s second-largest producer of sugar cane, with an annual production of around 18 million tonnes. The majority of sugar cane in Malaysia is grown in the state of Johor, with smaller plantations in the states of Perak, Selangor and Kelantan.

Cane sugar is the main type of sugar produced in Malaysia, accounting for around 95% of total sugar production. The remaining 5% is made up of palm sugar and other types of sugar. Cane sugar is used extensively in the food and beverage industry, as well as in the production of ethanol and other industrial products.

Malaysia’s sugar cane industry is dominated by a few large companies, with the three largest companies – Felda Global Ventures, Sime Darby and United Plantations – accounting for around 70% of total sugar cane production. Smaller cane growers include individual farmers and smaller companies.

The Malaysian government has been supportive of the sugar cane industry, with a number of policies and initiatives in place to help the industry grow and remain competitive. These include financial assistance for sugar cane growers, as well as tax exemptions
