Export And Import Of Fishing Equipment Companies in Malaysia

The Malaysian fishing industry is one of the country’s most important economic sectors, with exports of fish and fish products totaling RM5.4 billion (US$1.8 billion) in 2018. The industry employs some 400,000 people, or 1.6 percent of the Malaysian workforce.

Malaysia is a major exporter of fish and fish products, with its main export markets being Japan, China, the European Union, and the United States. In 2018, Malaysia exported RM3.9 billion (US$1.3 billion) worth of fish and fish products, an increase of 11.4 percent from the previous year.

The top five fish and fish products exported by Malaysia in 2018 were:

1. shrimp (RM1.4 billion or US$464 million, up 14.8 percent from 2017)

2. tuna (RM642 million or US$211 million, up 5.7 percent)

3. tilapia (RM560 million or US$183 million, up 5.3 percent)
