Forest And Land Development Companies in Malaysia

Malaysia has a long history of forest and land development companies (FLDCs) operating in the country. These companies have played an important role in the development of the Malaysian economy, particularly in the forestry and plantation sectors.

The FLDCs were first set up in the early 1970s in response to the Malaysian Government's policy to promote private sector involvement in the development of the forestry and plantation sectors. The FLDCs were given the mandate to develop forest reserves and other forest lands for commercial purposes.

Since then, the FLDCs have been involved in a wide range of activities, including the development of forest plantations, the management of forest reserves, the extraction of timber and other forest products, and the provision of forestry-related services.

The FLDCs have made a significant contribution to the growth of the forestry and plantation sectors in Malaysia. They have also played a key role in the development of the Malaysian economy, particularly in the creation of jobs and the generation of foreign exchange earnings.
