Investment Holding And Property Companies in Malaysia

In Malaysia, investment holding and property companies are regulated by the Securities Commission (SC) under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (CMSA). These companies are required to comply with the provisions of the Companies Act 2016, the Listing Requirements of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad and the SC’s Guidelines on Real Estate Investment Trusts.

The key difference between an investment holding company and a property company is that an investment holding company does not own or develop real estate properties. Instead, it invests in and holds shares in other companies which are involved in the real estate industry. A property company, on the other hand, owns or develops real estate properties.

Investment holding and property companies in Malaysia are required to disclose their financial statements on a quarterly basis. They are also required to submit an annual report to the SC within 4 months from the end of their financial year.
