Light Railways Companies in Malaysia

A light railway company in Malaysia is a company that owns, operates or leases a light railway system in Malaysia. A light railway system is a railway system that is not electrified and has a track gauge of less than 1,000 mm.

There are currently four light railway companies in Malaysia, namely KTM Berhad, MyHSR Corporation, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd. KTM Berhad is the largest light railway company in Malaysia, with a network of over 2,000 km of light railway lines. MyHSR Corporation is a government-owned company that is responsible for the development of the high-speed rail network in Malaysia. Prasarana Malaysia Berhad is a government-owned company that operates the light rail transit (LRT) system in Kuala Lumpur. Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd is a private company that operates the light rail transit (LRT) system in Penang.
