The manufacturing process of paints can be broadly split into four steps:

1. Pre-mixing: This is where the individual ingredients that make up the paint are mixed together. This usually takes place in large drums or vats.

2. Grinding: The pre-mixed paint is then passed through a series of grinding mills which break down the paint particles into even smaller sizes.

3. Additives: At this stage, any additional ingredients that are required for the specific type of paint being manufactured are added in.

4. Packaging: The final step is to package the paint into the containers that it will be sold in.
