Property Owner Companies in Malaysia

A property owner company, also known as a real estate investment trust (REIT), is a company that owns, operates, or finances income-producing real estate. REITs are a type of security that trade on major exchanges like a stock. REITs are required to distribute at least 90% of their taxable income to shareholders in the form of dividends.

The first REIT was established in the United States in 1960, and the concept quickly spread to other countries. Today, there are REITs in more than 30 countries around the world.

REITs in Malaysia are regulated by the Securities Commission. In order to be listed on the Malaysian stock exchange, a REIT must have a minimum market capitalization of RM500 million and a minimum asset size of RM1 billion.

REITs offer a number of benefits to investors. They provide a regular income stream in the form of dividends, and they offer the potential for capital appreciation. REITs also offer diversification and liquidity.

Investing in REITs is a way to get exposure to the Malaysian property market without having to directly own or manage property. REITs offer investors the potential for high returns, but they also come with risks.
