Property Ownership And Management Companies in Malaysia

Property ownership in Malaysia is governed by the National Land Code 1965 (NLC). Under the NLC, there are three types of ownership: individual ownership, joint ownership, and strata title.

Individual ownership refers to ownership by one person, while joint ownership can be by two or more people. Joint ownership can be either joint tenants or tenants in common. Strata title is a type of joint ownership where the property is divided into units, and each unit owner has a title to their unit.

Property management companies in Malaysia are regulated by the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA). MIEA is a professional body that sets standards for estate agents and property management companies. To be a member of MIEA, property management companies must meet certain requirements, including having a minimum of two years' experience and being registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia.
