Refining Companies in Malaysia

Malaysia is one of the world’s leading exporters of refined petroleum products. The country’s four refineries have a combined capacity of over 2 million barrels per day.

The refining sector in Malaysia is dominated by three companies: Petronas, Shell and ExxonMobil. Petronas is the largest of the three, with a refining capacity of 1.2 million barrels per day. Shell and ExxonMobil each have refining capacities of around 500,000 barrels per day.

Malaysia’s refineries are located in the southern state of Johor. The majority of the country’s crude oil imports come from the Middle East, although Malaysia also sources crude from Indonesia, Africa and Latin America.

The refining sector in Malaysia is highly integrated with the country’s petrochemical industry. A number of the country’s refineries are equipped to produce petrochemical feedstocks, such as naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Malaysia’s refining sector is expected to continue to grow in the coming years, as the country looks to capitalise on its strategic location and well-developed infrastructure.
