Stock Exchange Companies in Malaysia

A stock exchange is a market where stocks (pieces of ownership in businesses) are traded between investors. The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) is the main stock exchange in Malaysia.

The KLSE is a relatively young exchange, having only been established in 1930. It is also a small exchange, with a market capitalization of only about US$250 billion in 2012. This is compared to the US$16 trillion market capitalization of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Despite its small size, the KLSE is an important exchange in Southeast Asia. It is the largest exchange in Malaysia and is home to a number of large Malaysian companies, such as Petronas, Maybank, and CIMB.

The KLSE is also a member of the Asian and Oceanian Stock Exchanges Federation (AOSEF) and the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).
