Television Companies in Malaysia

Television companies in Malaysia are required to obtain a license from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The MCMC is the regulator for the communications and multimedia industry in Malaysia.

As of June 2018, there were 21 licensed television companies in Malaysia. The majority of these companies are free-to-air broadcasters, with a few pay-TV providers also present.

The largest television company in Malaysia is Media Prima Berhad, which operates several free-to-air channels including TV3, 8TV, and ntv7. Other notable television companies include Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (the largest pay-TV provider in the country), RTM (the public broadcaster), and TV9 (a privately-owned news channel).
