To Carry On The Business Of Real Property And Housing Development Companies in Malaysia

The Malaysian government has introduced several initiatives in recent years to encourage the growth of the real property and housing development sector. One of these is the Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT) exemption for housing developers, which was introduced in Budget 2018. This exemption applies to the sale of completed residential units by registered housing developers, and is effective for sales made between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2020. In order to qualify for the exemption, developers must comply with certain conditions, such as completing the project within five years from the date of acquisition of the land, and obtaining all the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities.

The government has also introduced the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) to promote home ownership among Malaysians. Under the HOC, buyers of residential properties are entitled to a stamp duty exemption of up to RM300,000, and a real property gains tax exemption of up to RM10,000. The HOC is valid for sales made between 1 May 2018 and 30 April 2020.

These initiatives by the Malaysian government are expected to boost the real property and housing development sector, and create more opportunities for Malaysians to own their own homes.
