To Carry On The Business Of Transport Companies in Malaysia

It is an offence for any person to carry on the business of a transport company in Malaysia without a valid licence issued by the Malaysian Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD). A transport company is defined as a company which is engaged in the business of providing land public transport services using any vehicle.

The application for a licence to carry on the business of a transport company must be made to SPAD in the prescribed form and must be accompanied by the prescribed fee. The application must be accompanied by a business plan and any other supporting documents as required by SPAD.

Once the application is approved, the transport company will be issued a licence which is valid for a period of one year. The transport company must renew its licence annually with SPAD.

The transport company must comply with all the conditions of the licence, which includes having a minimum paid-up capital, maintaining a certain level of insurance coverage, and appointing a qualified person as the company's director of operations.

The transport company must also comply with the Land Public Transport Act 2010 and the Land Public Transport Regulations 2011.
