Trading In Garment Companies in Malaysia

The Malaysian garment industry is one of the country’s most important manufacturing sectors, accounting for around 10% of total manufacturing output and employing over 600,000 workers. The industry is export-oriented, with around 85% of production shipped overseas, mainly to the US, Europe and Japan.

The Malaysian garment sector has benefited from the country’s relatively low wages, abundant labour supply and good infrastructure. In recent years, however, it has come under pressure from rising wages, competition from cheaper producers such as China and Vietnam, and the elimination of preferential trade agreements with key markets such as the US and Europe.

In response to these challenges, the Malaysian government has implemented a number of initiatives to support the garment industry, including financial incentives, training programmes and the development of specialised industrial zones.

Despite the challenges, the Malaysian garment industry remains an important contributor to the economy and is expected to continue to grow in the years ahead.
