Trading Of Fruits Companies in Malaysia

Fruit companies in Malaysia generally trade in three types of fruits namely, tropical fruits, temperate fruits and dried fruits. The tropical fruits traded are mainly pineapples, mangoes, papayas, watermelons, coconuts and bananas. The temperate fruits traded are apples, pears, grapes, plums and peaches while the dried fruits traded are raisins, dates, figs and prunes.

The main trading partners for Malaysian fruit companies are Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Vietnam and Japan. These countries import tropical fruits from Malaysia while the temperate fruits are mainly destined for Europe and the Middle East. The dried fruits are consumed locally and also exported to these same countries.

The trading of fruits is done through two main channels, the wholesale market and the retail market. The wholesale market is where the fruit companies sell their fruits to the importers and distributors who in turn sell it to the retailers. The retail market is where the fruits are finally sold to the consumers.

The wholesale market is generally located in the capital city, Kuala Lumpur while the retail market is found in all the major cities and towns in Malaysia. The wholesale market is open from Monday to Saturday
