Encik Shahrulanuar began his career in 1999 at KPMG Malaysia, a firm of Chartered Accountants, where he was involved in audit and various advisory assignments. His last position with the firm was Head of an Audit Department. In September, 2011, he joined Maxis Berhad as a General Manager with the Finance Business Planning department until March 2015. Subsequently, he joined Deloitte as Audit Director and Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad as Head of Financial Reporting. 

In July 2016, he joined Rohas-Euco Industries Berhad ("REI") as the Chief Financial Officer. Following REI's reverse takeover of Tecnic Group Berhad listing status and change of name to Rohas Tecnic Berhad ("RTB") in March 2017, he was made RTB's Chief Financial Officer and subsequently appointed as an Executive Director of RTB in March 2018, positions he held until November 2021, prior to his appointment as Chief Financial Officer of Ahmad Zaki Resources Berhad.
