1. INTRODUCTION

Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CIMB Berhad ("the Company"), had on
2 June 2003 entered into a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") with Al-Tawfeek Company for Investment Funds Limited
of the Cayman Islands, for the purpose of establishing a co-operation to jointly undertake Islamic banking activities globally.

2. UPDATE

The Company wishes to inform that there has not been any material development on the MOU.


3. FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENT

Any new developments in relation to the MOU will be made by the Company in due course.
