The Board of Directors of EKA wishes to announce that Kilang Bihun Bersatu Sdn Bhd (“KBBSB”) and Kilang Bihun Bersatu (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“KBBEM”), the Company’s wholly-owned subsidiaries had on 15 August 2017 been served with the Notices of Demand (“Notices”) in relation to the sum due and owing to Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd (“SMTSB”).

According to the Notices dated 10 August 2017, KBBSB and KBBEM respectively had incurred the sum of RM45,374.83 and RM1,856.59 worth of fuel transactions following the usage of the Shell Standard Fleet Card at various petrol stations in Malaysia.

SMTSB had through a firm of lawyers acting on its behalf demanded the sum of RM45,374.83 and RM1,856.59 due and owing by KBBSB and KBBEM respectively to be paid within 7 days from 10 August 2017, failing which SMTSB would commence legal proceedings against KBBSB and KBBEM for the recovery of the total outstanding sum together with all interest and costs without further reference to KBBSB and KBBEM.

KBBSB and KBBEM are exposed to the above claims and interests as stated above.

The Notices will not have any financial or operational impact on Group and the Company would be contacting SMTSB to discuss on the above matter.
