Malaysia Building Society Berhad (MBSB) would like to announce its headline Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for FY2006. These headline KPIs have been set and agreed by the Board and management of MBSB as part of the broader KPI framework that company has in place, as prescribed under the GLC Transformation program, and is disclosed on a voluntary basis.

The headline KPIs represent the main corporate targets set by MBSB for the period and should not be constituted as being forecasts. In this respect please note the following;

These headline KPIs are targets or aspirations set by the company as a transparent performance management practice. These headlines shall not be construed as either forecasts, projections or estimates of the company or representations of any future performance, occurrence or matter as the headlines are merely a set of targets/aspirations of future performance aligned to the company's strategy.

FY2006 Headline KPIs

1. Return on Equity (ROE) of 9% (as compared to FY2005 actual (without tax adjustments) ROE of 7%).
2. Profit Before Tax (PBT) growth is targeted at 37% compared to actual FY2005 of 12%.
3. Retail loan growth target at 30% vis-а-vis actual FY 2005 of 45%.

Commentaries

1. In good position to achieve the set 2006 ROE target.
2. Increase earnings expected from higher fee based income and tightening of risk management policies to ensure loan quality.
3. Retail loan growth target set below 2005 actual due to increasing interest rates, bigger loan base and tapering of the property market demand scenarios in 2006.
