Further to the announcement dated 2 July 2002, AmMerchant Bank Berhad (formerly known as Arab-Malaysian Merchant Bank Berhad) on behalf of the Board of Directors of SCIB, wishes to announce that the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has approved the Proposed Acquisition subject to the following approvals being obtained:-


(i) the Securities Commission ("SC"); and
(ii) the Foreign Investment Committee ("FIC").

The Proposed Acquisition is still pending the SC and FIC's approvals.

This announcement is dated 4 October 2002.
