We refer to the Exchange's query dated 8 May 2002 on the news article in The Star on Wednesday, 8 May 2002 entitled "Tasek expects 5% - 10% rise in turnover this year" and clarify that the above statement by our Executive Director was quoted out of context. Our Director was commenting on the surplus of cement in the industry as a whole and if the government promotes the use of cement for the construction of more concrete roads and highways, the expectation would be an increase of 5 per cent to 10 per cent in demand for cement and this would help solve the surplus faced by the industry.

We refer to the above news article appearing in The Star, Business Section,
page 10, on Wednesday, 8 May 2002, a copy of which is enclosed for your
reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence
which is reproduced as follows:-
"... Tasek Corp Bhd ... expects between 5% to 10% increase in turnover this
year."
In accordance with the Exchange's Corporate Disclosure Policy, you are
